Call for Case Studies

How Tech Is Shaping the Future of Rental Housing

The Real Estate Technology and Transformation Center (RETTC) is calling on housing providers, tech innovators, and industry partners to help tell the story of progress.

We’re seeking standout case studies that show how technology is delivering real results—not just buzzwords—in addressing long-standing housing challenges across the U.S.

If your solution is helping to:

• Add to the housing supply

• Lower operational costs or fill labor gaps

• Improve affordability, stability, experience and outcomes for residents

• Modernize property operations at scale

—then we want to hear from you.

Your success could be featured in RETTC’s advocacy and public relations work, on-stage at major convenings like OPTECH 2025, partner events like the NMHC Annual Meeting, and other high-impact forums like RETTC virtual events.

What We're Looking For

We’re interested in real-world, replicable success stories—projects or pilots that show what’s possible when technology and housing innovation intersect. Your submission should highlight:

The challenge you set out to solve

The tech solution you deployed (software, platform, automation, process, etc.)

How it was implemented — who was involved, how long it took, processes deployed, (if sharable)

The outcomes you achieved — data, user feedback, efficiencies gained, dollars saved

What you learned — including what you’d do differently or scale next

We’re especially excited about innovations that showcase thought-leadership and forward-looking partnerships between housing providers and technology partners to drive improved housing affordability, expanded housing supply, enhanced resident service and engagement and improved operations.  Some example areas of focus are:

• Construction or renovation bottlenecks

• Staffing and labor shortages

• Energy efficiency and smart building performance

• Predictive maintenance and automation

• Resident engagement and retention

• Risk management, eviction prevention, or income volatility

How to Submit

Send your case study (750–1,500 words, PDF or Word) to ideas@rettc.org with the subject line: Case Study Submission – [Your Organization Name].

Include any visuals (photos, infographics, dashboards, etc.) that help tell your story.

Who Should Submit

We’re looking for stories from:

• Property owners/operators (multifamily, affordable, BTR, public housing, etc.)

• Technology companies/startups

• Local governments and housing authorities

• CDFIs, mission-driven developers, and nonprofit partners

• Researchers and implementation teams

Let’s Shape the Narrative Together

This is more than a call for case studies—it’s a chance to elevate what’s working, connect innovators and operators, and drive real momentum toward a more resilient, affordable, and tech-forward rental housing system.

Let’s spread the word that Real Estate Technology is a Force for Good.
