The RETTC Advocacy + Public Policy Committee drives unified action to ensure the real estate technology sector speaks with one voice in advancing pro-technology and pro-housing public policy.
By connecting leaders across operations, development, investment and innovation, the committee champions forward-looking advocacy to educate and elevate understanding of technology’s role in improving renter outcomes, enhancing housing operations, and enabling a more resilient and efficient housing market. The Committee also amplifies and supports the NMHC–RETTC PAC to advance our shared mission of backing bipartisan, pro-housing, and pro-innovation leaders in Congress.

The RETTC Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Committee unites data-driven leaders to harness the power of information for smarter, faster, and more strategic decision-making. Members collaborate to identify trends, reduce data friction, and advance responsible data use that drives interoperability, trust, and maturity across the rental housing ecosystem. The committee also navigates the emerging policy and regulatory landscape to help companies stay innovative, compliant, and competitive in a rapidly evolving digital environment.

The RETTC Data Privacy, Security + Information Strategy Committee safeguards the foundation of trust that fuels transformation by leading the conversations on focuses on cybersecurity, data privacy, and information strategy as AI and emerging tech reshape the rental housing ecosystem. Committee members bring deep expertise to identify risks, strengthen defenses, and create forward-looking solutions.

The committee explores transformative technologies, from AI and automation to next-gen building systems, that redefine operations and residents engagement. The committee also navigates the emerging policy and regulatory landscape to help companies stay innovative, compliant, and competitive in a rapidly evolving digital environment.

The RETTC Intelligent Buildings + Connectivity Committee leads efforts to build connected communities that elevate the resident experience. The committee also tracks emerging trends, shares best practices, and navigates emerging policy and regulatory developments to support connectivity, smart infrastructure, and addressing the digital divide.

When will applicants be notified?
Applicants will be notified by mid-December 2025.

What are the criteria for serving on a committee?
Committee members are senior leaders who can shape industry direction and drive meaningful outcomes. To be considered, applicants will have:
- Hold a senior leadership role within their organization (e.g. VP, SVP, Director, Head of Product/Engineering/Data, CTO/CIO, or equivalent)
- Have 10+ years of industry experience in technology, operations, policy, data, or related disciplines
- Demonstrate expertise and thought leadership in their field
- Have the support of their firm’s senior management to participate
- Show a strong track record of engagement with NMHC/RETTC priorities and industry advocacy
- Be committed to advancing RETTC’s mission of innovation, connectivity, and transformation in real estate technology
- Agree to actively participate in committee meetings, working groups, and collaborative projects

Does every applicant get appointed?
No. RETTC receives far more applications than there are available seats. The number of open positions on a committee varies from year to year based on term limits and rotations.

How large will the committees be?
Each committee will be limited to 25 participants with a limited number of those seats for tech partners..

Some committees may not have openings. Should I still apply?
Yes. Openings are based on term limits. Even if a committee is currently full, we encourage you to apply as your interest helps us identify future opportunities and maintain a strong pipeline of leaders.

Can more than one person from a member firm join?
Committees will include no more than one representative per member firm to ensure broad member representation and cross-sector collaboration.

How many committees can I apply for?
Applicants may apply for one committee per cycle to ensure meaningful engagement and balanced participation across RETTC’s leadership network.

How often will committees meet?
Committees will establish the frequency of meetings according to their charter, workplans and member goals. Most committees convene quarterly, with in-person meetings at OPTECH and the Tech Executive Summit.

What is the expected time commitment for serving on a committee?
While meeting length may vary, each typically lasts no longer than 60 minutes. Members are expected to actively participate, share insights, and collaborate with peers and RETTC staff to help shape initiatives and policy priorities.

What is the preferred meeting format?
Committees will meet virtually via Zoom or Teams, and in person during key RETTC convenings and events.

Will there be other opportunities to apply?
Yes. Committee applications open each year, providing members with recurring opportunities to get involved. RETTC also offers dynamic peer-to-peer networking groups for those looking to engage, collaborate, and innovate beyond formal committees. All committees and peer-to-peer groups convene at in-person RETTC events— we encourage every member to join us, connect, and contribute, whether or not you’ve been appointed.

Do I have to reapply to remain on a committee?
No. Members are reviewed annually as part of RETTC’s evaluation process but do not need to reapply to continue serving on their current committee.

Will I be notified if I have not been appointed?
Yes. All applicants will receive a notification of their selection status by mid-December 2025.
